The Albanian Language Dictionary 2.0 in general and the software for this dictionary in particular are part of the nationwide project of the Center for Education and Progress, “Albanian Language and Computer”.

The software contains Albanian words with their respective meanings and explanations for each meaning. This software serves as a quick reference tool for any user who wants to know the meanings of a word, its semantic nuances, as well as phraseological expressions and proverbs that have the selected word as the main one. Each of the word meanings is accompanied by simple illustrations of the connection of the main word with other words. The user only needs to start typing the word and all words that begin with the letters marked in the search are automatically listed. The software even offers an approximate search, when the user is not sure about the exact form of the word they are looking for. The software also offers the possibility of searching for words and groups of words even within the explanation of words and not only in the title word.

Who is it aimed at?

The software The Big Dictionary of the Albanian Language 2.0 comes to the aid of pupils and students, foreigners who want to learn Albanian, as well as researchers who want to do in-depth studies in the field of the Albanian language. This software serves teachers during the process of teaching the Albanian language, to digitally concretize topics about the meanings of words, by extracting the multiple meanings of a word through direct search. This new teaching and learning technique, supported by the Big Dictionary of the Albanian Language 2.0, makes learning Albanian even more qualitative and more entertaining.

How does it work?

The software The Big Dictionary of the Albanian Language 2.0 has been created to be used in several versions, according to the user's ability and choice. It is offered in these versions for use: as an application for the Internet in a web browser, as an application for a computer and as an application for phones or tablets (with Android or iOS operating system).

The basic function of this software in all its versions is the same: The user simply needs to start writing the first letters of the desired word and immediately a list of words starting with the requested letters is provided.
