What do you do if your child is choking? When should you put them in the recovery position, and when not? And what do you do if your child stops breathing?

These are precisely the questions we, Meike and Lynn, the founders of littleplan, asked ourselves in the spring of 2020. We had both just become mothers, and first aid wasn't exactly a familiar concept in our own nurseries.

How could we help families become more familiar with this important topic and the necessary steps to act effectively in an emergency? Our answer was the littleplan first aid posters, which have since received an award from the Björn Steiger Foundation.

Now we want to take it a step further: our lives are so digital, and our smartphones are so ubiquitous, that we've developed an app that allows young parents (and other caregivers) to regularly refresh their knowledge of first aid techniques.

We deliberately avoided lengthy explanations and excessive text. The most important points should be immediately apparent. This app is also designed so that you can review the procedures at regular intervals (on the subway, at the bus stop, etc.). It's intended to build knowledge rather than be used in acute situations (where the procedures should be readily available).

The littleplan app is structured as follows:

- Burns
- Respiratory System
- Poisoning.

The app is designed for laypersons without medical knowledge and follows the GRC 2021 guidelines. These guidelines serve as a reference until emergency medical services arrive. littleplan assumes no responsibility for decisions made based on these guidelines. We also recommend completing a first aid course.
