What is the Bible?
The Bible is an account of God's works in the world and His purposes with all creation. The Bible was composed over the course of sixteen centuries and is the work of over forty humans. It is an amazing collection of 66 books in many different styles, containing the messages that God wanted us to follow. There

is an amazing variety of literary styles in this collection of texts. It tells us a lot about the life of Jesus, the lives of good and bad people, their battles and journeys, and the activities of the church in the early times. It comes to us in the form of stories and dialogues, proverbs and parables, songs and metaphors, history and prophecy.
Generally, the accounts in the Bible were not written in the order in which the events occurred. Rather, they were told over and over again and handed down from one generation to another before finally being written down. Yet the same themes are found many times throughout the book. Along with the diversity, there is also a unique unity.

So what is the Bible? Well, the Bible is, apart from all the things mentioned above:

a guide to living life purposefully. It shows us the right path for the adventure-filled journey of life. Or put another way, the Bible is like an anchor to the ship as we sail the sea of ​​life.

Not only that, it is also a storehouse of wonderful stories for children and adults. Do you remember Noah and the ark? Joseph's coat of many colors? Daniel in the lion's den? Jonah and the fishes? Jesus' parables? These stories highlight the triumphs and failures of ordinary people.

It is a refuge in trouble. People report how turning to the Bible in pain, suffering, prison, and grief strengthened them even in times of despair. It

is a treasure trove of insight into who we are. We are not meaningless robots, but wonderful creations of a God who loves us and gives us a purpose and a destiny.

It is a source for everyday living. We find standards for our conduct, a guide to knowing right from wrong, and principles that can help us navigate a confusing society where an "anything goes" mentality often exists.
